More coming soon hopefully... probably going to do the 'dirty drawing' exercise before blind contour. More Carnival may come as inspiration hits me - feel free to reply to it to maybe influence the direction it goes!

Online Resources: Sometimes there are resources online that shine above the rest, here are a few of my favorites:

- Niklas Jansson's "Art Tutorial" - An In-Depth guide to creating Art written by Niklas Jansson.

- ConceptArt.org - An amazing online art community.

- Harlan Ellison's "Pay the Writer" commentary - Translates to visual artists VERY well.

Preferred Media: While I have experience in a wide array of media, everyone finds their favorites, these are a few of mine:

- Graphite (any pencil/stick and sometimes erasers)

- Charcoal (I prefer vine and dust methods over chunk)

- Pastels (oil pastels interest me the most, this is my favorite 'dry' media in color, but I use others occassionally)

- Oil Paints (although I haven't had a chance to use them in YEARS, I love how smooth these feel compared to all other paints I've used)

- Digital (Painter IX + Wacom Intuos3 6x8, I prefer Painter over Photoshop).

Alzorath Moving to a new format...lack of updates has mostly been from procrastination, but also a bit due to the fact that I hate the new layout for fan pages on here...

Gridding is just the term I use for this method of practice, since I've never heard of a formal term to reference it to. The primary use of this exercise is to develop your techniques using a minimal stress environment (a throwaway picture - with no actual 'goal' beyond practice)...

Overview: An overview of a book that is in itself an overview, is rather odd to me, but anyway - this book covers a wide variety of topics, all relating to the masters and movements of Western arts...

Overview: As with other Hogarth books - Overemphasis is a notable tone. This book will help you differentiate on how and why different surfaces wrinkle in different ways...
Alzorath
Overview: Very similar in design to the Manga book I reviewed in week 5. This is a light approach to introducing readers to anatomy and structure used in fantasy art. It covers mostly just figure drawing and some acrylic information...
Alzorath
Overview: Inspirational and Instructional, while not as powerful in the Instructional Aspect as I would like - the inspirational aspect just helped notch this one a solid 8/10 review...

Overview: This is a very interesting book, and is not your traditional "How to Draw Manga" or "Manga Art Vol. X" book. This book, in the best way I can describe, is like an "Introduction to Art" book that focuses on Manga and Anime...
Alzorath
Overview: This book is an instructional book, very similar to those done by Bridgman. Vanderpoel however is much more delicate when it comes to the human figure - focusing on the flow of curves much more than Bridgman...
Alzorath
Overview: This is one of the books from the well-known "Dynamic" series by Burne Hogarth (Artist of the old Tarzan Comics). This book is an instructional book for the intermediate/advanced artist who wishes to pursue the plethora of possibilities available in the human figure...

Overview: This is an "informational" dvd, and goes along Shawn Barber as he uses oil paints to do a still life. This DVD review is based on the combination of the Feature and the Bonus Content together...
