Jerry Olcsvary A question for my fellow celiacs. Im sure you have been to Trader Joe's and found products with the little g on them. And if you read the ingedients at the end on most things it reads "Our vendors follow good manufacturing practices to segregate ingredients to avoid cross contact. Made on equipment shared with wheat...." Would you be avoiding things like these, or trusting that they have cleaned the equipment before they made the non gluten food? I really don't have time to cook much from scratch.

You'll get different answers from different Celiacs, ranging the broad spectrum. The most conservative would be avoid anything where wheat is not only made on the same line but made in the same factory. Others will say this is too extreme (as you said, time and normality of life is an issue) and that the manufacturing practices are sufficient. I... See More think it's personal, not only where you are in terms of healing from CD but also your overall sensitivity. Personally, I'm newly diagnosed so until I'm 100% I'm approaching the situation very conservatively...hopefully this won't always be the case. Trial and error is not an optimal alternative here but if time is very limiting, you may have to just see what your body can tolerate. I've also found that TJ's has a number of items that are GF and also are shared on equipment with soy and nuts but not wheat. So may take a little searching on your part.

The first time we made it, I left out the sweet stuff and wrapped the crepes around ham and onions. The second time, we made them with all of the sweet stuff left in, wrapped around blueberries and topped with a little honey. Delicious!

Who doesn't love coffee cake? Saw this Gluten Free Dairy Free Coffee Cake mix from The Cravings Place at Whole Foods, and I had to give it a whirl. It is delicious and easy to make.I recommend!Make it while making your chicken stock for the week.Multitasking!

Jerry Olcsvary I was just diagnosed and I am super bummed. All the processed GF food is really expensive and it tastes awful. The only other option is to cook on my own which will be a delight working full time with two kids. And my options at restaurants are severely limited. Just needed to vent, but it seems like this part of l...ife will no longer be fun. I normally bake holiday cookies, too---Looks like that aint happening. :((

I agree Amanda, I have spent a big part of my life feeling bad,anemia, B12 diffiiciancy,irritable,chronic fatigue etc. I was diagnosed 3yrs ago with Celiac. Finally,the missing pieces to the puzzle are being put into place.
