It is nice to see some automotive relevancy in racing these days. Corsa Motorsports passed an Acura ARX-02a from Patron Highcroft Racing at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca this year in their 5th race.

And I agree with the prior posts in regards to NASCAR...I have no desire to watch that weekly carnage repeated in my beloved ALMS. I want to watch true racing by professional drivers - things that are foreign concepts to that other unfortunate American past-time.

Gary Nolan: American of the year.

That post was clearly biased. You talk as if Magnussen drove like a saint and was run into the wall out of desperation because no car manufacturer other than GM can win any race series without cheating.

Correct me if I am wrong but that is how you sound. Also, you accuse the entire series (not sure how you can do that) of being prejudice against GM, and boldly claim it is the last time any manufacturer other than GM will win a GT2 class race. Then you vaguely call "them" the "cheating bastards". I assume you were referring to Flying Lizard but it sounds more like every team in the series besides GM’s. Now I don't see how an entire team, or multiple teams get labeled as "cheating bastards" by one drivers single decision, but I'm sure you have facts and proof to back ALL of these claims.... Read More... Read More

Oh you did have facts and proof. The inevitable bumping bit before all of your wild accusations, justifying Magnussen's bump on the last turn right? Well...

If you watch the footage, you can clearly see the cars were not inches apart coming into the turn. The announcers even said themselves "too far back" "not unless a dive bomb". The Corvette had ample room to allow for adequate braking without bumping. Also if you watch the cars come into the corkscrew earlier in the same lap, you can see that they were about the same distance if not closer by a bit and yet..no contact. Also earlier still in the race the cars were much closer together under braking and there was no contact. Especially when Magnussen attempted to overtake the Porsche through turn 1 in traffic, the cars came very close, yet Magnussen did not clip Bergmeister. The announcers even call it out specifically. Sorry, but the whole inevitable bumping scenario just doesn't hold up for me.
Please watch:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3y0tbdpcFc
in it’s entirety to see what I mean.

I am in no way justifying Bergmeister's move. I think that was a very poor decision. But I definitely do not think Magnussen was driving fair either, (as you make it sound) and not just on the last lap. Under fair driving conditions the Porsche had the Corvette beat. That sounds bold and like a wild assumption like you made earlier. But, I will actually explain how I reached that claim, unlike you.

The only times we see the Corvette get past the Porsche near the end of the race is when he cuts the track illegally, (Cheating? or does that only apply to other manufactures?) and at the very end when Bergmeister spins him out. Other than that the Corvette never gets past, even with multiple intentional bumps trying to get the Porsche to loosen up and go off line. This is why my unbiased decision is made that the Porsche had the Corvette beat in a fair fight.
Please watch:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jrOV4M6MDl0
at roughly 2:00-2:24 to see the Bergmeister accident from another angle.

Sorry about my rant but I hate to see such bold and ridiculous claims being made with no backing at all. Overall I believe both drivers made poor decisions and I hope we don't see more of the same in 2010.
