David Michael Taylor I just saw it tonight with the Cinefamily and I loved, loved, loved this movie. I learned much more than I expected, which was great. And it made me very happy to see so much of Chilly Billy Cardille up on the screen, and even happier when so many people in the audience applauded his appearance. I'm so glad this movie was made and made so well.

Adrienne Marta Wow. I found Bob Billbrough on here. You look great. Think of you often. Miss you tons.

Shawn M. Garrett Wonderful film - very happy to see Stella. Of course, there'll never be enough time for everyone's fave - like mine, Dr. Shock out of Philly, who took over for Roland/Zacherele when he went to NY. I can satill remember watching "The Vampire's Coffin" and "Robot v. The Aztec Mummy" on SCREAM-IN or MAD THEATER. Excellent documentary - thanks for the memories...

Erik Lobo I cant wait to present AMERICAN SCARY on the big screen in LA...

American Scary Our friend Bob Burns has as a new documentary out about his legendary Halloween shows - check it out!

I finally got to see the film after years of anticipation.
Great job.
I am a bit disappointed that there's no mention of Dr. Paul Bearer though. He is in the show reel after all. :(

Richard Cody Thanks for a great look at a too long neglected subject.

American Scary
Hey, who was your horror host? If you're tempted to respond, "Whaddaya mean, my horror host?", you probably grew up in the post-local television era. Which means, you spent your childhood without a mordantly sardonic costumed creep to introduce (and heckle) your Z-grade shock/shlock fare when you were staying up way to...o late. Horror hosts are one of the folkways of TV, beginning in the 1950s when broadcast was both local and live, with the indelible Vampira. Each station spawned its own variations on the theme, from the classic "cool ghoul" Zacherley in New York, to Chicago's undead hippie, Svengoolie, to Cleveland's beatnik-styled Ghoulardi (director P. T. Anderson's father!) It just gets weirder from there in documentary American Scary, which digs deep to discover that before Mystery Science Theater, there was a whole world of campy characters for every kid--and stoned sophomore--to call their own. And we've got our own host, Mr. Lobo, to share even more great goodies and treats that they couldn't pack into the film.....and then, continuing the fine tradition, we'll all watch a rare surprise TV Movie feature from the 70s!Read More
