American Technion Society Technion scientists have made a breakthrough that may enable doctors to deliver anti-cancer drugs directly to tumors over extended periods of time, while preventing the systemic side effects of chemotherapy and other cancer treatments. The system led to an 87% reduction in volume and an 83% reduction in weight of a tr...eated glioma tumor in mice after two weeks of treatment. http://ats.org/tumorkiller

Joan W. Abraham How lucky we are to have access to the information coming out of Technion in order to understand where we are headed medically and defensively.

Bill The Discovery Mission officially kicked off with an excellent speech by Technion President, Prof. Peretz Lavie, about how critical decisions made by his predecessors, including the Technion's establishment of the first and only Faculty of Aeronautical Engineering in Israel, and the start of a major research effort in m...icroelectronics, led to the creation of Israel's aircraft and high-tech industries. After the Welcome Reception and Dinner for Mission participants, Technion leaders and faculty and ATS staff, an energized group of still-awake Mission participants took a walking tour of the promenade in Haifa, overlooking the lights of Haifa Bay.

Bill I am in Haifa a few days prior to the start of the 2009 Discovery Mission. The weather is pleasant--sun, clouds, mild. Got to do some great mountain biking in Ben Shamen National Forest yesterday, outside Tel Aviv. Mountain biking is popular in Israel, and Haifa apparently has some nice trails--yet another reason to visit!

Irma Bender Sarisohn Looking forward to being at the Technion in a few days on the Discovery Mission!

Bill Looking forward to the ATS Discovery 2009 Mission to the Technion, November 14-19. See you there, or online with updates from Israel on Facebook
