Ami Hendrickson

Ami Hendrickson NaNo novel is at 36,000 words. Spent the entire day writing a chapter I didn't know needed to be written. Ha not intended to put it in the book -- but it INSISTED. Who am I to say "no?"

I'm so proud of you. Too newly returned to this writing thing to even try and figure out what this NaNo thing was I'm glad I didn't try this year. Maybe next. Critiquing going really well with new partner. We've got a good honest thing going and both take ea other's comments well. She had a major plot problem and hero problem and I'm proud I was able to come up w/solution. Yeah me.

Ami Hendrickson NaNo stats: 29,500 words and 8 chapters finished. Facing a conundrum: should I continue writing the novel ('cause I'm on a roll and want to see what happens next)? Or should I review the publisher's proposed changes to Ryan's manuscript? Hmm... Decisions, decisions.

Ami Hendrickson NaNo stats: 25,000. A bit shy of where I wanted to be. But warm fuzzies from the editor of Ryan's book saying ::blush:: such nice things really made my day.

Bob was (as Kelly and I now know) but we still miss Grace. Had a killer Parrot-themed discussion after critiques. :)

Hey, I miss you guys too. Will see how things are going after THanksgiving and may try to get back in Dec. New CP is DYNOMITE, and knows her stuff. Also is a copywriter and going to possibly teach me how, no charge. She is super. Hey, if anyone needs any info on parotts have them email me and I can give them my phone number!

Ami Hendrickson NaNo stats: 18,800 words, and all done with the first 5 chapters. Part I is put to bed. Part II (six years later) begins tonight... Aiming at 20,000 before I put my head on the pillow. But first: gonna go have some quality time playing with my horse. :)

Ami Hendrickson Writers who are angered about PW's shut-out of women writers in this year's Best Books of 2009 list are encouraged to do something about it. Take part in SheWrites.com's "Day of Action" tomorrow (Friday the 13th).

First of all, thank you for your comments, support, questions and thoughts responding to my post about the ZERO women (and almost total absence of people of color) on Publishers Weekly's Best Books of 2009 list. ...

Ami Hendrickson NaNo stats: 17,400 words. On a writing roll. Found myself actually liking my villains today. Really enjoyed mucking around in their sad and selfish minds. One is turning out to be a really tragic anti-hero. Who knew...?

Ami Hendrickson NaNo stats: 13,660 words. Had a wonderful Writing Practicum meeting. Taking a break from the NaNo novel to watch a movie with Robert tonight. Tomorrow -- pushing for 16,000!

Ami Hendrickson NaNo stats: 11,500 words. Today -- write a chapter that I did not realize needed to be included until after 11 p.m. last night, when it was too late for coherent creative thought.

It's not the "too late for coherent creative thought" that I like, but the word count. You'll catch me pretty soon if I don't get off my butt and start writing today!

@ Ami - Ha! And you are the one always asking me things like, "What does he do for a living?" "Where did they go to school?" or whatever. I don't know! They're puppets! (Although this time they're not. This time I even wrote about their childhoods, siblings and parents before I started the novel!)

Ami Hendrickson NaNo beckons, but I had to share some musings from my friend Jim Mercurio on the merits of contests in a writer's career.

Ami Hendrickson NaNo update: Chapter 1 is done -- all characters who needed to die have finally quit fighting the inevitable and acquiesced to my authorial mandate. On to Chapter 2...

Ami Hendrickson has re-discovered the joy that comes with taking a story from one art form (be it book, screenplay, stage-play) and re-imagining it in another.

Ami Hendrickson is very proud of my NaNoWriMo writing buddies who did far more work on their novel projects yesterday (the start of the contest) than I. Today, however, I am determined to kick some word-count butt!

You're 10,000 words ahead of me. I have to say, um, NO!... Wait... Wait -- do you mean by the end of NaNo? Or by the end of the Novel (which may not be the same thing)? Or who gets their project published first?
