- Before President Franklin D. Roosevelt died, he said that he didn't want a state funeral because it would be a distraction from the fact that we were a nation at war. So they took him by train from Warm Springs, Georgia to Washington, D.C., where he lay in state at the White House, and then they took him to Hyde Park in New York, where he was buried. Along the way, thousands of people lined the tracks. A reporter went up to a mourner who was weeping with his hat in his hands and said, 'Why are you here? Did you know Franklin Roosevelt?' The mourner replied, 'No, I didn't know President Roosevelt, but he knew me.'
- About Me:
- The policies in Washington and the ongoing scandals make me very concerned about our country. I think Minnesotans are ready for a change.
I'm running for U.S. Senate because I believe now more than ever we need real change and real leadership in Washington. And it begins with restoring honor and integrity to the chambers of Congress. Even as middle-class Minnesotans struggle with significant increases in basic living costs related to health care, home ownership, education and energy, the Republican leadership in Washington continues to embrace the wrong priorities by catering to big oil companies and pharmaceutical companies. That is plain wrong. I want to make the interests of Minnesota's working families a top priority again. Like you, I love this state. I have spent my life helping people, standing up for what's right and championing new ideas that produced results. Now, I am ready to take my fight to Washington.
As your U.S. Senator, I will do my job without fear or favor just as I've done as a prosecutor. I will put the interest of the many in front of the few. I will bring Minnesota values of hard work, fair play and responsibility to Washington and fight for a clear-cut agenda focused on health care reform, energy independence, tax fairness and economic and international security. Together, we will make a difference. Work Info
