I love these little rascals!

John at 6:15pm July 8
Nice try Aphrodite but I recognize you even if someone changed your name.

Anchorage Animal Care and Control Center Here is Izzie, an adult female pit bull mix. Izzie loves giving kisses and playing Frisbee. She did well supervised in Doggy Playgroup and likes exploring new scents. She is a strong girl and will need a home that can give her exercise. She enjoys tug of war and when told to let go, she knows to drop it. She has a wonderful face and coloring that have endeared her to our staff and volunteers. She can be adopted for $152, which includes her spay deposit, MOA license, vaccinations, and microchip.

Anchorage Animal Care and Control Center Baxter is a 10 year old, male, boston terrier mix. He may be a bit older, but he likes to play like a kid. Tug of war is a favorite game, but toys don't hold much interest for him if they do not come with a person to play with as well. He is friendly and out-going, always ready to meet new people. He enjoys his walks and did very well when he was bathed and had his nails clipped. He already knows sit and is quite the smart little fellow. He can be adopted for $152, which includes his neuter deposit, MOA license, vaccinations, and microchip.

Baxter has been adopted!

Anchorage Animal Care and Control Center The Alaska SPCA has agreed to sponsor AACC adoption fees of cats that are one of a long-term pair up for adoption. The adopter will pay the fees for one cat, and the Alaska SPCA will pay the fees (excluding spay/neuter fee or deposit) for the second cat going to the SAME adopter. The cats must be over one year of age, from the same household, and assumed to be long-term companions. More info, call us 343-8122!

Anchorage Animal Care and Control Center Here is Pancho, a 3 year old, neutered male, domestic shorthair, black cat. Pancho is curious, loving, and affectionate. One volunteer described him as a great blend of independence and affection, both quiet and easy going. The groom table is one of his favorite places here, which he lets you know with a nice purr. Also, his lovely green eyes have caught the attention of many at the Center. He can be adopted for $62, as he is already neutered, which covers his vaccinations and microchip.

Pancho has been adopted!

Anchorage Animal Care and Control Center Fireworks and Pets: July 4th can be a dangerous and frightening time for pets. Help ensure their health and safety pets by: 1. Keeping them in a SECURE and quiet setting, like your home (make sure windows and doors are closed), 2. turn on a TV or radio to help mask the noise, 3. be certain they have current MOA dog license, ID tag, and rabies tag securely fastened to their collar.

Anchorage Animal Care and Control Center For another look at some of the “other” animals available for adoption at Anchorage Animal Care and Control Center, this week we’d like to introduce you to Doodle, an adult rooster! Having a rooster is not for everyone, but they can be a great pet for someone interested in more unusual companions. They can be wonderful help keeping pests under control in your garden and most chickens/roosters can be tamed and trained, even as adults, with positive reinforcements and food rewards. They do need to be kept outdoors at least part of the day, supervised or contained to protect them against predators. Their crowing can be quite loud, so they are not an apartment pet, but can live between 10-15 years, so can become quite attached to their human companions. Doodle can be adopted for $10.

Tina at 7:24pm July 6
I knew I heard a rooster when I was walking dogs last week! So glad he has a new home.

Anchorage Animal Care and Control Center Here is Triton, a 5 year old, neutered male, German Shepherd mic. This wonderful guy is very strong, but still has great manners on a leash. He knows some basic commands, such as "sit" already. He did wonderfully in play group with the other dogs and loved to play in the small kiddie pool we had out for them to enjoy. He is handsome, sweet, and fun. What more could you ask for?? He can be adopted for $72, as he is already neutered, which covers his MOA license, vaccinations, and microchip.
Anchorage Animal Care and Control Center at 12:21pm June 30
Triton has been adopted!

Anchorage Animal Care and Control Center We would like to again showcase Aphrodite/Babygirl, a 7 year old, female, pit bull mix. She was featured on Mix 103.1 at the beginning of the month, after which she was adopted. Unfortunately, due to financial concerns, she has been brought back. The person who adopted her highlighted on her personality profile that she was the PERFECT DOG, they loved everything about her. This girl loves to have her head and neck scratched and to chase tennis balls. She pays good attention to her walkers and her sweet and mellow personality has made her a favorite here. She is a friendly and happy giver of kisses too! She is an active girl and will need a new home where she can get lots of exercise. She can be adopted for $137, which includes her spay deposit, vaccinations, MOA license and microchip.

Anchorage Animal Care and Control Center Max is a 1.5 year old, neutered male, pit bull mix. He has lots of energy and will need a home that can give him good exercise. He is friendly and playful, enjoys exploring on walks and playing “rope”, and did well both in the bath and having his nails clipped! He has been in a couple of doggy playgroups and got along well supervised. He is also very smart, getting A pluses in Shelter Dog Training Class. This great guy can be adopted for $72, as he is already neutered, which includes his MOA license, vaccinations, and microchip.

Anchorage Animal Care and Control Center DaVinci is a neutered male, domestic mediumhair, black cat. We're not sure of his age, but he is active and playful like a younger cat. He loves to be around people and was taken out on a harness and leash this weekend by one of our volunteers! He can be adopted for $62, which includes his vaccinations and microchip.

DaVinci has been adopted!

Anchorage Animal Care and Control Center We are again highlighting some of the “other” pets we have available at Anchorage Animal Care and Control Center, by introducing Clyde, a red eared slider turtle. Turtles belong to one of the oldest families in the animal kingdom, dating back to the dinosaurs! Red eared sliders are an aquatic turtle, so he will need a nice aquarium setup to live in. He enjoys swimming and basking in the light of his heating lamp. Turtles can be a wonderful pet, lively and fun to watch. Clyde can be adopted for $10. The adopter will need to provide the aquarium or other living habitat, as this is not included.

He loves to be around his people and will need a home where he can get lots of attention. He can be adopted for $57, as he is already neutered, which includes his MOA license, vaccinations, and microchip.

We hope people can detour off Tudor through the Renaissance Fair parking to Elmore, but if not, people will need to take Lake Otis to 68th and around to us. We hope everyone will still join us on Sunday for the Pet Adoption Fair!

Anchorage Animal Care and Control Center We have an awesome dog for you this week, Tasha! She is a 9 year old, female, husky mix. We are very excited to celebrate Tasha, as she has just passed her American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen Program (AKC CGC)! At Animal Care and Control, we are lucky to have fantastic volunteers working with our dogs on simple training, such as “sit” and “stay”. Dogs can also be chosen to do the AKC CGC, a program designed to recognize dogs who have good manners at home and in the community. This 10 step test and certificate covers behavior from accepting a friendly stranger and sitting politely for petting to reaction to another dog and walking through crowds. We are so pleased to celebrate this sweet girl and know she will be an excellent addition to someone’s family. She can be adopted for $152, which covers her spay deposit, MOA license, vaccinations, and microchip.
