The Anchorage Fire Department says the original call was from a resident who reported a fire in a bathroom light fixture at the building on Thompson Avenue in Mountain View.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- A family in Spenard is cleaning up after a fire that broke out Friday morning. Firefighters say a space heater is likely to blame.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- A fire broke out Sunday at the Sahara Restaurant in Anchorage. The restaurant was closed at the time, but the owners say the kitchen sustained severe damage.

"It's not the biggest town, but we seem to raise a lot of money per capita and the Anchorage people and residents have always, always had open hearts and open wallets for a lot of the charities in this town," said Sr. Capt. Mike Stumbaugh of the Anchorage Fire Department.

However, one person was injured and transported to the hospital for treatment. Fire officials are unsure of the extent of that persons injury.

Firefighters responded within minutes after getting a call that a girl had gotten her fingers caught in the bottom of the escalator.

A group of teenagers reported the fire to 911. Firefighters arrived at 9599 Brayton Drive, space No. 444 around 5 a.m., and say the fire had engulfed 80 percent of the trailer by the time they got there.
