The default avatar shape and look for Second Life is absolutely horrible. Thankfully, players have the possibility to completely customize the way it looks by applying a new body and face shape like in the Sims, drawing a new skin, making your own hairstyle and even changing the positions the avatar stands, sits and wa...lks in.
This image shows off just how far I've come customizing my own avatar using Photoshop and an animating program called Qavimator.
If you want to see how bad she looked when I first logged on to Second Life, take a look here:

In 1997 and when 8 months pregnant, I created an installation at the Sara Hilden art museum in Tampere, Finland to frame my belly in all it's glory. The exhibition had the theme "Portrait" and included works from both notable artists as well as school children. The "portrait" of my son, as he wiggled and kicked under t...he bright lights was quoted as being the youngest person to have their portrait done in Finland, ever. Heheh.
