While in Lausanne in July of 2008, visiting my great friend Xavier, he showed me this wonderful song by Jack Johnson. Two days later I had learned it and recorded this video.
Several interesting details. The do, do, do's I sing are not originally from the song, but are a lost musical memory in my head. A friend of mine... gave me a cassette (back in the days) with an acapella group from Cornell doing a song that I loved. And that melody is still stuck in my head, but now I can't remember what the song was called. Anyone?
The song is originally played on the guitar, but since I only had a piano, I used that instead.
A nice little memory from a wonderful vacation in Switzerland!Read More

The topic for the evening will be processes. Andrés Solé will be playing a solo acoustic concert where he will be talking about the processes involved in creating his music. Learning to sing is a process, writing a song is a process, preparing a concert is a process. The concert itself is a process!
Bernardo Borgeson w...ill be showing his short film "Música Myself" in which he filmed parts of the process of recording Solé's EP, Con Solé during the fall of 2007. This short film exemplifies several characteristics typical of Bernardo's work. First, he films that which is in his surroundings, familiar and meaningful to him in order to find a point of self-reflection. His shooting style is guided by some kind of spontaneous sensitivity: he puts himself, as Robert Bresson would say, in a state of intense ignorance and curiosity, and yet he sees things in advance. Bernardo’s palette can be expressionist as seen in his use of greens and reds or minimalist as in the white scene in the middle. Bernardo compliments his visual language by pulling apart sounds and reassembling them in a collage of aural expression.
We are all constantly going through processes. Traveling is a process, falling in love is a process, studying is a process. It will surely be a charming evening where we all sit down together to reflect on our processes and learn about them through music and film. It is free, so all are welcome. Invite a friend, make their day!

Música Myself is a video poem by director Bernardo Borgeson about Andrés Solé's working method filmed October of 2007, during the making of the EP "Con Solé".
This short collage of images and sounds exemplifies several characteristics typical of Bernardo's work. First, he films that which is in his surroundings, famili...ar and meaningful to him in order to find a point of self-reflection. His shooting style is guided by some kind of spontaneous sensitivity: he puts himself, as Robert Bresson would say, in a state of intense ignorance and curiosity, and yet he sees things in advance. Bernardo’s palette can be expressionist as seen in his use of greens and reds or minimalist as in the white scene in the middle which I love because of its bravura. Bernardo compliments his visual language by pulling apart sounds and reassembling them in a collage of aural expression.
I see Bernardo's films as his attempt to show us how he perceives the world he lives in and how everything is intertwined and full of hidden meanings. It is a joy for me to get to work with such a dear friend and a true artist.
