Andrew O'hagan Exciting news about THE LIFE AND OPINIONS OF MAF THE DOG, AND OF HIS FRIEND MARILYN MONROE, Andrew's new novel, which is published in the UK next May. Publishing houses in Italy and Germany have been bidding for the book, and it was today sold in both territories. Andrew was overwhelmed by the response of Hans Balmes of the German company S. Fischer and is delighted to be joining them.

Andrew O'hagan Date: Andrew has agreed to be one of the writers to read alongside Nobel-Prize-winning poet Seamus Heaney in a celebration of his life and work. The event is sponsored by the Royal Society for Literature and will take place at Kings Place in London on 22 February next year. To obtain tickets, call 020 7845 4676.

News: it has just been announced that Be Near Me, the stage play adapted from Andrew's novel, has been nominated in three categories at the Manchester Evening News Drama Awards. Best Production, Best Actress (for Blythe Duff) and Best Actor (for Ian MacDiarmid). The ceremony will take place on 8 December. Andrew O'hagan Andrew is wowing audiences this week at the Harbour Front Festival in Toronto. He says the weather is so bad he's thinking of going down the Niagara Falls in a barrel to get away from the rain.
Andrew O'hagan News: Andrew has signed up to write a short story for Radio Four about Elvis Presley's stopover in Scotland on 3 March, 1960. The story will be broadcast in January 2010 and they are already looking for a shook-up actor to play the main part.
