- Two recent blogs mentioning Androphilia. 6:34pm Apr 27|3 Comments

I received the comment below (in the context of a larger message) from a reader and since I spent a few moments expanding on it, I figured I'd post it here. If you want more, interview me or wait for me to publish this as an essay at some later date...

Hey! That comment was from someone I know :) who left it at GayPatriot.

You know, I realized that after I posted it--I didn't follow the link to Gay Patriot until after the fact...and then I recognized the tag. Thanks as always for the plug.

Androphilia A review of Androphilia on a blog devoted to the appreciation of...well...mostly naked, apparently masculine men. NSFW

Jack Malebranche is not gay. He is not effeminate. He is not a feminist. He is not the Gay Movement. He is not lesbian/bisexual/gay/transgender/transexual (LBGTT).

I'd of course argue with the author about embracing terms like "fag" and "butch" (a term only used by women and homosexual males--I have yet to hear a straight man brag about being "butch") and overestimating the rip-roaring manliness of sexual rebellion, and I'd reiterate that "androphilia" is more a name for a mode of thinking about male ... Read Morehomosexuality and masculinity than a political or social identity. I would tend to argue for assimilation vs. separatist in-your-face "homo-pride" and do not consider it a "mistake." But whatever.
I'm just glad to read, two years after its publication, that Androphilia is "a great read. It's no surprise that the book's becoming something of a fucking bible among androphiles."

The obvious problem is the Blog Author's definition of masculinity only seems to exist in a sexualised context: Look Hot, act 'Butch'. The greater issues of honour and integrity are completely ignored, and, by extension, the obvious need for men to want to distance themselves from the 'Gay' label.

If you want to see an example of the gay community's complete lack of perspective and paranoid hysteria in action - do a Google news and/or blog search on this story, starting here...

Well...when it comes to evaluating claims of "oppression", social class is especially relevant. There's nothing wrong with having wealth and/or achievements, but when you whine about discrimination...it becomes a relative non-issue if you're successful. Real oppression is not so easily overcome. Real "2nd class citizens" aren't worried about their real estate investments and stock portfolios. In countries where real oppression exists, it is fairly apparent.

I was recently asked for some commentary for a ’roundtable’ discussion on the film Milk. Be warned: The ads on the site are not quite safe for work.

I got this question this morning and I thought it might be fun to answer it here. Maybe I will do this occasionally if you send me a good question...

This should not, by the way, imply that I do not respect Hef. He's also well known for surrounding himself with great minds and comedians and so forth. He's an interesting figure. If you can find it online somewhere, read his serialized manifesto. I think it's called "The Playboy Philosophy"

Thanks for posting this Jack, I hope other men will post their opinions on this as well.
