After 35 years with the National Symphony Orchestra and 25 years as Music Director of the American Youth Philharmonic Orchestras, Luis Haza announced his retirement from AYPO at the end of June 2009 to begin the next phase of his life at his new residence in Georgia.

The American Youth String Ensemble filled the Ernst Cultural Center with lush strings in Winter Magic on Friday and the Symphonic Potpourri, with the American Youth Concert Orchestra and the American Youth Symphonic, showed off the ensembles' skills with varied styles of music. A sp...ecial shout out to the newest members of our Percussion Ensemble for their marimba work.
