Anne Rice The New Orleans Saints just won their football game today! I'm so sorry I didn't get to watch it on television. This is just too exciting for my beloved home town. I know they are dancing in the streets, whether Hurricane Ida is coming or not.

Anne Rice The Red Shoes is a life changing film, all right. It's about art and life, and it's beautifully done, rich in color and gorgeous to experience. I saw it as a child and never forgot it. Many many people seeing it went on to be dancers. For me it was about all of art.

Do you know/like the british singer, Kate Bush, Anne? She has a song & short video, as well as an album called, The Red Shoes, based on her love for the film:

Anne Rice Maureen Dowd's column, Ballet's Mean Streets," in today's NYT is worth reading, especially for those who love the film, The Red Shoes. It made a huge difference in my life, that film.

A very special film, The Red Shoes. But I like another romance of Michael Powell's better - a Scottish wartime romance called "I Know Where I'm Going." Wendy Hiller and Roger Livesey (a Powell regular) starred in this wonderful and lyrical tale about what is really important in this world. And Petulia Clark appeared in a small supporting role as a proper English child. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Know_Where_I%27m_Going!

It's probably the only article of Ms.Dowd's that I enjoyed.
She is definitely not a columnist on my reading list.

The Red Shoes is a fantastic fim.Ballet is not kind to the
dancers. It is an arduous daily routine that we are privileged to watch as beautiful performances. Lyrical, graceful, athletic-but definitely not kind to the body.

Anne Rice Thank you for helping me celebrate Stan on his birthday today. We celebrated forty-one of his birthdays together. He was beautiful in life and beautiful in death.

ANGEL TIME By Anne Rice Knopf. 272 pp. $25.95 "There were omens from the beginning," Anne Rice's "Angel Time" begins. It's a nice first sentence for a mystical thriller: forebodings of doom, promises of supernatural happenings to come. ...

Anne Rice Today is my husband Stan's birthday. His favorite flower, red carnations, will be at his tomb in New Orleans. He left over 300 beautiful paintings when he died and stacks of unpublished poems. I treasure his legacy, and his memory.

Anne Rice I just finished reading my son Christopher's new novel, The Moonlit Earth, which will be out in a few months. Wow. I was simply terrific. A mother can't hesitate to say so when her son writes a fabulous novel.

Anne Rice Last night, I watched the original The Mummy with Boris Karloff, quite an amazing gem of a film; then went to the 1942 Wolf Man and found that as delightful as ever. What incredibly influential films these were. They certainly influenced everything I ever wrote.

Anne Rice With these recent lists of the hottest vampires, I don't think Brad Pitt is getting the credit he deserves for his portrayal of Louis in Interview with the Vampire. Brad was terrific. Certainly the most sublimely beautiful vampire ever.
