Arlington Parks and Recreation Department

Arlington is home to over 78 parks and 4 recreation centers. The City of Arlington is one of 67 cities in the United States to be designated a Playful City USA. In 2008 the Arlington Tennis Center became the USTA national facility of the year. The Terra Verde Golf Course was named one of the top 100 places to play golf in the country by Golf Digest. Lake Arlington is the home of the first flat-water paddling trail in Texas. According to the University of Kansas, the City of Arlington Parks and Recreation Department has more Certified Monarch Butterfly Waystations than any other city in the country. Between the Forestry and Beautification and Golf Divisions we planted 285 trees in public spaces in 2008. (read less)
