Personal Information:: Art XX is a quarterly magazine focused on presenting art by ALL women largely due to the long history of their omission by established art institutions and magazines.

We want to level out the playing field and show the talent of many brilliant underrepresented young artists. This magazine is born out of a collaborative effort between the writers, the artists and the public.

Besides aiding in the promotion of women's art we want to show the upside of success, the fulfillment it creates in the lives of women artists, the inexhaustible devotion and hard work that goes into images and ideas we produce. We would like to make a statement that women are a vital and equal force in the art world today. We do not wish to push the separatist message of girls vs boys but to simply focus on women's talents and progress in the arts.

On that note we'd like to meet kick ass ladies, talented artists, illustrators, painters, writers, musicains, installation artists, performance artists, women of all colors, orientations, shapes and sizes interested and/or involved in the arts. Spread the word! (read less)

Personal Interests:: CALL TO ARTS!
A new art magazine for women is looking for entries, ideas and interviews for the Spring 2008 issue. We are attempting to create a magazine about women artists with an emphasis on visual and performance arts, but we're leaving room for musicians, writers and other kick ass talented ladies who lack exposure, have worked hard to reach success and want to share with the audience their art, their challenges, thoughts and musings.
Why we do this?

We want to create a space where women artists can show their art and share their brilliance.

We want our audience to be well informed about women artists.

We want to carve out a permanent place in the art world, get our well deserved visibility and respect for our diverse voices.

We want to encourage younger women to pursue careers in the arts without a second thought, many of us wouldn't even be calling ourselves artists without other women we idolized, looked up to and whose talent and persistence pulled us through.

We are still in our fetal development stage but need your help building the content. If you are a woman and one of the following come join our small staff. The positions open:

Freelance writers - we need you badly!!!

We want people who can write about art, have an ability to conduct interviews and with good communication skills, people who are genuinely passionate about arts and will take the time to familiarize themselves with the artists and the assignment to produce meaningful content. This does not mean you will get paid a lot of $$$ but we can negotiate. Please send work samples.

Illustrators of all kinds- we are always looking for you talented women out there who want to self-promote and get published. This is a mag for you and about you so don't be shy. Keep these samples coming. You can screen your name across art in Photoshop if you worry about sending your art away into the unknown-we are artists and we understand.

Book and zine reviews section editor- we are looking for a writer/editor and an avid reader who would seek out new and interesting publications by women artists/writers/zinesters etc...Please attach writing samples and a brief bio.
