I get this question a lot, so thought I would go ahead and address it. A lot of folks are wondering what camera they should buy if they are making the jump to a DSLR (digital single lens reflex) I am a Canon shooter because that is what my first film camera was...
Point and shoot cameras do have there place. I have three of them! There are some like the Canon G11, that give the photographer a lot of control over the image and can take an accessory flash as well. A lot of the newer point and shoots even shoot RAW...
The status updates won't let me write enough to give you all an in depth tip, so I am going to do note. Here is something that I know a lot of people struggle with, blurry pics. Blurry pics are usually caused by too slow of a shutter speed...
Ashley Warren Studios Ok, first tip. Don't kill me: READ your camera manual. I know it is SUPER boring looking, but it is the only way you will learn to navigate all the menus, so you can make proper adjustment. Now a "non-preachy" tip :) Do not put your subject in direct sunlight. They will squint! Try to find shade! Overcast days are fant...astic for portraits. Porches also supply beautiful soft light.
