Research Guides Remixed

Springshare's Libguides, Oregon State University's open source ICAP (Interactive Course Assignment Pages) and other systems are making it easier to create web-based research guides that appeal to the aesthetic sensibilities of our patrons and lead them to the scholarly resources they need.

This session will feature two "Pecha Kucha" presentations from librarians who have experience with these systems. Pecha Kucha, Japanese for "chatter", is a new presentation format that limits each presenter to 20 slides and gives them 20 seconds to talk about each (6 minutes and 40 seconds per presenter.)

Presenters:
Steven M. Adams, Princeton University

Margaret Mellinger, Oregon State University

Time and Location:
Sunday, June 29th, 2008 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm
Hyatt Regency Orange County (HYATT) Salon I

EBSS @ ALA: Knowledge Wants to be Known: Open Access for the Behavioral Sciences

Are you interested in alternative scholarly publishing models? Do you want to know more about how open access is playing out in the social and behavioral sciences? Open access is not one-size-fits all; disciplines have unique publishing histories and requirements. Learn how to energize behavioral science faculty and connect access issues with the "publish or perish" imperative. Distinguished panelists include John Willinsky, Alison Mudditt, and Ray English.

This program is scheduled for Saturday, June 28th, 1:30 to 3:30 pm at the Disneyland Hotel, Magic Kingdom 4 (take shuttle bus 5!).
