Association of Zoos & Aquariums Another reason not to skip the invertebrates at the zoo/aquarium- The octopus has been added to the list of tool-using animals!

Underwater footage reveals that the creatures scoop up halved coconut shells before scampering away with them so they can later use them as shelters.

Association of Zoos & Aquariums Have you been to the zoo in the winter and seen animals in the snow? What was your favorite?

Seeing a Siberian tiger is a big deal. They're a big deal. But seeing a Siberian tiger lolling like a kitten in a pile of snow is a real treat. I also enjoy watching wolves play in the snow. Their big hairy feet seem ideal for turning snow-covered ground into a giant slip-n-slide. And then of course there are otters who'll use the smallest pile of snow as a slide. It's all happening at the zoo in winter...whether we're there or not.
