The Georgia Museum of Art The Friends of the Georgia Museum of Art will host the 26th Alfred Heber Holbrook Memorial Lecture, presented by Francis M. Naumann on Wednesday, November 4. A reception will follow the lecture.

Francis M. Naumann, will present his lecture, “Marcel Duchamp and Jeff Koons: An Exercise in Circular Reasoning.” Naumann is ...the author of numerous articles, exhibition catalogues and books, most recently, “Conversion to Modernism: The Early Work of Man Ray” (Rutgers University Press, 2002). He currently owns and operates his own gallery in New York City. Before opening this gallery, Naumann was an independent scholar and curator.

The Alfred Heber Holbrook Memorial lecture is sponsored by the Friends of GMOA. The lecture began in the late 1970s after the death of Holbrook. The lectures normally take place in November to coincide with the birth month of Holbrook’s wife, Eva Underhill Holbrook.

The lecture will take place on November 4 at 6:30 p.m. at the University of Georgia Chapel on UGA’s North Campus. The reception will be held in the Visual Arts Building on Jackson Street. The event is free and open to the public.
