It’s time for the artists of digital culture to become involved again and participate to Athens Video Art Festival, the innovative artistic affair that has been endorsed enthusiastically by artists and public.

Athens Video Art Festival is the official festival of Greece in... the field of video art and new media, and covers the demands of people from the complete spectrum of creativity. It is a place of promotion of digital culture and a link between creators and organizations and at the same time an intriguing multi-dimensional event.

Each year Athens Video Art Festival evolves, becomes enriched and sets new goals raising the stake even higher, brings out its academic character and strengthens it through important collaborations and retrospectives, offers motives for creativity and presents the latest international developments in the field of digital media, and communicates them to the public.

Athens Video Art Festival celebrates the completion of five successful years and aims higher than ever. Building on its four previous impressive materializations, it is preparing its most ambitious edition yet, which will take place at “Technopolis”, of the City Of Athens.

To this grand celebration of digital culture, you are invited to participate* in the following categories: video art, animation, digital image, web art and installation art.

The call for entries is open to foreign and Greek artists alike.

Postmark deadline: 15 February 2009.

* [ In the case of submission of entry to the “video art” or “animation” category, the time duration of the work should not exceed 15 minutes. The video should be submitted in dvd video (pal) format or video file (“avi”, “mpeg” or “quicktime”, with a maximum file size of 1,5 Gb). The artists have the right to participate with more than one piece of work, with a maximum of four. A separate entry form should be submitted for each piece. There is no entry cost. ]

Ήρθε η ώρα για τους δημιουργούς των ψηφιακών μέσων να δραστηριοποιηθούν ξανά και να δηλώσουν συμμετοχή στο Athens Video Art Festival, τον δραστήριο καλλιτεχνικό θεσμό που αγαπήθηκε όσο λίγοι.

Το Athens Video Art Festival είναι το επίσημο φεστιβάλ της Ελλάδας στον τομέα της video art, ενώ φροντίζει συγχρόνως να καλύπτει τις απαιτήσεις ανθρώπων από όλο το φάσμα της δημιουργίας. Στην πορεία του έχει κερδίσει καλλιτέχνες, φορείς και κοινό, το οποίο δίνει μαζικά το παρόν του κάθε χρονιά. Μέσα απο την πολύπλευρη δράση του, το Athens Video Art Festival αποτελεί τοπίο προώθησης και συνδετικό κρίκο ανάμεσα στους δημιουργούς και τις διοργανώσεις, τόσο εντός όσο και εκτός Ελλάδας.

Κάθε χρόνο το Athens Video Art Festival εξελίσσεται, εμπλουτίζεται και θέτει νέους στόχους ανεβάζοντας τον πήχη ψηλότερα, αναδεικνύει τον ακαδημαϊκό του χαρακτήρα και τον ενισχύει μέσω σημαντικών αφιερωμάτων και συνεργασιών, προσφέρει κίνητρα για δημιουργία στην καλλιτεχνική κοινότητα, παρουσιάζει τις τελευταίες διεθνείς εξελίξεις στον τομέα των ψηφιακών μέσων και τις επικοινωνεί με το ευρύ κοινό.

Φέτος γιορτάζει τα πέντε του χρόνια και στοχεύει πιο ψηλά από ποτέ. Κτίζει στις τέσερις εξαιρετικά επιτυχημένες προηγούμενες διοργανώσεις του και ετοιμάζει την πιο εντυπωσιακή έκδοση του, η οποία θα πραγματοποιηθεί στην Τεχνόπολις του Δήμου Αθηναίων.

Σε αυτή την μεγάλη γιορτή του ψηφιακού πολιτισμού, σε καλεί να συμμετάσχεις* στις εξής κατηγορίες: video art, animation, digital image, web art και installation art.

Προσκεκλημμένοι στη δημιουργία είναι καλλιτέχνες απο όλη την Ελλάδα και το εξωτερικό.

Συμμετοχές θα γίνονται δεκτές μέχρι την 15η Φεβρουαρίου 2009.
