This was truly a spectacular story of survival and struggle. She deserves to be thanked for what she has done for this family. But maybe if Afghanistan could receive more economical aid from US instead of combat troops, the situation would generally improve. The fight for hearts and minds begins right there, and that's what Afghanistan needs, more ... See MoreUS economical assistance. I as an Afghan-Canadian, am thankful for what Canadian government is doing in the province of Kandahar, and I believe US can do more. No more black water contracters, no more combat troops, BUT More schools, hospitals, jobs and security.

Btw, Great report, Atia you really do present the story through a broader lens, not only in this report, but ive seen this through out your other interesting reports.

P.S- Atia I think if im not mistaken, My family knows yours lol random i know, but PM me if you get time. :D

Great feedback, thank you all. As to some of the questions, I don't think they are recruiting outside of Afghanistan but I'm sure if they got volunteers they wouldn't turn it down. As for training them to read and write, they say they are but the majority that I have met in both the police and army can not read at all. The military high school is a very interesting idea, discipline is lacking among many young men in the country.
