Fine Mess Pottery In progress: This pitcher was thrown on the wheel as a botttomless cylinder, then squashed into an oval shape. The handle and bottom were added after it had partially dried, which was also when I added the brushstrokes.

One nice thing about platters is that I get a larger surface to decorate. Though I often use a single large stamp as a focal point, this time I went with an overall, wallpaper design. It actually looks a little wallpaperish, perhaps in a Victorian homw.

Fine Mess Pottery Just delivered some new pots to Summer Island Studios, at 149 Maine St in Brunswick, ME. Check 'em out if you are in the area. They've got lots of other great stuff as well: Jewelry, painting, handmade clothes. My favorite is the life-size llama!

Fine Mess Pottery Getting ready for the holidays puts me in the mood to make platters! These won't be done for Thanksgiving, of course, but they will be out of the kiln in plenty of time for Christmas.

The yummy orange finish on this piece is a classic soda look. Lidded jar measures about 8" high x 5" in diameter. Perfect size for a coffee or tea canister, or stash your treasures here!
