Todd Solomon i purchaed the moto backflip today...everything on the phone seems to work well, except there is a major defect and it seems that moto is aware of the problem...a defect that has major privacy issues. here goes.. one can delete a text, recent call, etc..but...under the contacts, there is a "history" tab, that document...s everything done on the phone, including txts, emails, calls...etc..and this can not be deleted..i been working on this for 2 hours, and on some forums....here is a link

I watch a lot of the mobile tech blogs (IntoMobile, Engadget Mobile, MobileCrunch, etc.) and I'll let you know if they report anything that addresses this issue. Otherwise, keep me posted on how you like the MotoBlur "skin" that sits on top of Android.

the phone works great...but i contacted moto, and they said that the phone keeps a permanent record of all logs, and this action is easily accessabile and can not be deleted, and that is the same response that i'm getting from the forums also..

Glad to hear the phone works great, but the privacy thing seems like an issue. Some other articles I've seen indicate AT&T has also locked the phone down a bit (see http://bit.ly/9czGDf). The upshot is that Android phones can usually be customized. If you can hang in there, some users may figure out workarounds to the privacy and any other issues that come up.

Aumnia - the automated mobile internet platform An interesting split is emerging amongst the big wireless carriers. Sprint's latest commercials, featuring CEO Dan Hesse, are touting their $70 unlimited everything plan. AT&T's CEO Randall Stephenson, on the other hand, is indicating that they are going to start charging more to their heaviest bandwidth users (http://...bit.ly/9fQ2km), which primarily affects their lucrative iPhone customer base. Can Sprint's aggressive pricing give it a chance against AT&T's iPhone juggernaut?

When AT&T or Verizon offer you an unlimited plan for $69.99, that's all it's good for - phone calls. With Sprint, for the same price, you get unlimited text, unlimited web and unlimited calling to every mobile phone in America. Now that's more like it.

Aumnia - the automated mobile internet platform The big news in mobile this week is Apple's patent infringement suit against HTC and, by proxy, Google. Apple is also engaged in another mobile patent dispute with Nokia, which Nokia initiated earlier this year. Frankly, I am a bit disappointed that the major players are spending money battling in court rather than in ...the marketplace. I've posted a full opinion of the latest suit on our blog (http://bit.ly/cHAPgS).

Apple suing HTC over 20-odd patents before both the US District Court and the International Trade Commission has certainly caused some chaos this morning.

Aumnia - the automated mobile internet platform Looking for better cellphone coverage in your house? Femtocells may be your answer. They are very similar to a wireless router except they work to give you full bars with your cellphone. AT&T has been testing femtocells in Charlotte and is ready to start rolling the hardware out to a larger audience.

It may not be the news that folks in some particularly problematic areas have been waiting for, but AT&T has now announced that it's finally

Aumnia - the automated mobile internet platform Looking for a cross between a Nokia and BlackBerry? Then look no further than the BlueBerry 9500. This BlackBerry knock-off from China emulates the Bold 9700, adding a TV tuner and dual SIM support. I'm betting that you won't see this device here in the US anytime soon. Engadget has details and a few pics.

Aumnia - the automated mobile internet platform Whoa! Here's a surprise. Despite all the flak that iPhone users have given AT&T over their network, they came out on top in PC World's second 3G wireless performance test. Is it possible that the iPhone itself is the problem and not AT&T's network?

www.pcworld.com
After generating disappointing results in our tests last spring, AT&T’s 3G network is now the top performer in our 13-city tests, with download speeds 67 percent faster than its competitors'.

very possible, the iphone is always switching back and forth from 3g to EDGE to even GPRS, when there is good signal strength...i tested this theory, by using a older 3g phone, and i had no problem with the device switching back and forth

Aumnia - the automated mobile internet platform Google continues to release interesting and fun mobile tools. This past week they've released Google Shopper (http://bit.ly/9jvWwv) and Google Earth for Android. I downloaded and played around with Google Earth last night, and it's a keeper!

Aumnia - the automated mobile internet platform I didn't get the latest Verizon ad until my teenage daughter explained it to me, but now I think it's hilarious. I don't know how they're doing it, but Verizon continues to get good mileage out of these map ads.

Aumnia - the automated mobile internet platform One of the more interesting phone announcements out of MWC this year was the Puma phone. Yes, that's not a typo. The shoe manufacturer Puma is releasing a phone that is focused on sports, recreation and social integration. It's most interesting feature is a solar cell back for charging the battery.
