Aunt Agatha's Mystery Bookshop Not a mystery but have been immersed in Hilary Mantel's WOLF HALL - anyone else read it? It's fabulous. 500 + pages are flying by.

Aunt Agatha's Mystery Bookshop Am working on my Top 10 list for the year - anyone have any favorite titles they want to share? Would love to include them in our newsletter. (Actually my Top 10 list is done but it won't be unveiled for awhile).

Aunt Agatha's Mystery Bookshop Don't miss author Elizabeth Sims tomorrow at 7 p.m., when she'll give a talk entitled "Reading & Writing Mysteries: Discussion, Gossip & Expert Advice." She'll also be signing copies of her Rita Farmer books, THE ACTRESS and THE EXTRA. Very zippy reading!

Aunt Agatha's Mystery Bookshop Just finished Sharon Fiffer's Halloween-y read, SCARY STUFF. I think it's her best book so far.

Aunt Agatha's Mystery Bookshop Back from Bouchercon - what a great time! The convention highlight was seeing Michael Connelly, Sue Grafton, Sara Paretsky, Peter Lovesey and John Lutz on the same stage, discussing Poe. What a breathtaking scope of mystery writing over the past 25 years! Someone at the end thanked them for enriching all of our lives... and I felt they should have received a standing ovation - here's a virtual one from me.

Aunt Agatha's Mystery Bookshop Just finished Deborah Crombie's very wonderful NECESSARY AS BLOOD but now that I've finished it am feeling at loose ends - I'll have to wait a whole year for another installment! It's one of her best I think.

Aunt Agatha's Mystery Bookshop just finished Stuart MacBride's excellent Blind Eye. There are many major pleasures in this great series but among the minor ones are how he's going to describe DI Steel's hair -- my favorite this time -- "Her hair looked as if it had been styled by a drunken gorilla -- which was an improvement over yesterday," and "it... lay on top of her head like a ruptured ferret."
