Jessica Anderson  Austin Dacey sets the record straight. "Although a recent Religion News Service classifies me and my book The Secular Conscience among the (Atheism) 3.0s, I have to say that I'm not all that happy with the taxonomy."

Great article, Austin! I see that same tension, though I don't see it as a "bad" tension. It seems to me that organized secularism should be a full spectrum enterprise. The fact is that some people are truly refugees from religion and are eager to make a deep personal connection to a human-centered, science-based worldview. Others support secular ... See Morehumanist values in the abstract: good for conceptualizing law, social justice, governance, etc, but don't observe deep philosophical principles in their own lives and don't want it pushed on them. Still others are "Coke and Dorritos" secular sympathizers who mostly don't care so long long as they aren't bothered in their life by religious doctrine. Do you think there's room in organized secularism for all of that?
