Company Overview:
In 1928, The Young Men’s Business League (YMBL) of Austin recognized the serious community threat of youth tuberculosis and became dedicated to making a significant contribution to the solution. The YMBL members established the Austin YMBL Summer Sunshine Camps in Zilker Park to provide afflicted local youths and economically disadvantaged youth an environment in which to gain weight, grow strong once again, and enjoy the sunshine.

Mission:
Austin YMBL Sunshine Camps’ main objective is to ultimately stem the cycle of poverty among high-potential, low-income youths in Austin and Central Texas by promoting education, raising high school completion rates, and increasing college participation among this group. Our mission statement is as relevant today as it was 80 years ago:

“To provide deserving children of Austin, and of the surrounding areas, with programs that provide them opportunities for personal development, and necessary skills in order to succeed in school as well as in life, and the hope for a better future.”
