Gables 5th Street Commons will host a red-hot opening event this Saturday night! On Saturday, December 5th, 2009, Project Transitions hosts its 21st Anniversary Holiday Swing fundraiser at the Dell Jewish Community Center to benefit people living with HIV/AIDS. Holiday Swing is the showcase fundraiser of the year for Project Transitions, and features an extensive silent auction and drawing to win ...two travel authorization letters good for round-trip travel on Southwest Airlines. More than 1,300 guests are expected to attend the event.
Holiday Swing has become a December tradition in Austin. Headlining the event is “The Sentimental Journey Orchestra,” a 22-piece big band ensemble that performs the songs of yesteryear. The orchestra has been featured in Texas Highways Magazine and called, “the best thing to come out of the Hill Country” by the San Antonio Express News. Adding to the night’s music are local jazz-harmonists and original backing band for the Andrews Sisters, “The Studebakers,” who also perform songs of the 1940s.
All funds raised by Holiday Swing go directly to the programs of Project Transitions, 501(c)3 non-profit organization that provides quality hospice, housing, and supportive care for people living with HIV/AIDS in Central Texas. Tickets are available for $55 at Top Drawer Thrift Store, Book Woman, Tapelender’s Video, and at Project Transitions’ administrative office. Tickets are $65 at the door.
