We’re nearly a week into the new year, and for many of us, that means we’re easing back into our normal routines after a (hopefully) refreshing break. I trust you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year. H...

One of the regular names on this site that seemed to drop off the planet is Justin Jefferson who has been on my “Whatever happened to..(Insert name here)” list for quite a while. Recently he has resurfaced with a great article in Quadrant Online, which he has given me permission to repost here. By...

Its thier bias, if a greenie were tied to a tree media choppers and vans would be swarming in to report on "the latest enviromental catasophre" A man acts on principal to stick up for his property rights / freedom to choose his own level of economic activity and nay, barley a word in the mainstream media.... and then only those critical of him are published..

Hands down, the '00s were the worst political decade at least since the 1990s. Reason.tv celebrates the (lack of) personalities, the scandals, and the screw-ups that made us all want to forget the first 10 years of the 21st century. ...

In 2009, America's meddlers worked overtime minding other people's business. Nanny of the Month winners have targeted everything from fish pedicures to feeding the homeless. But there can be only one Nanny of the Year. ...

Australian Libertarian Society All libertarians (and anybody who wants to understand economics) should read this famous short article by Hayek

What is the problem we wish to solve when we try to construct a rational economic order? On certain familiar assumptions the answer is simple enough. If we possess all the relevant information, if we can ...

Merry Christmas and happy new year to the owners of the roughly 15000 pairs of eyeballs that grace our blog each month. And a belated happy summer solstice to the pagans. Feel free to give us your thoughts, feelings, plans or predictions for 2010.

Tony Abbott’s office has confirmed that he supports the Net filter…for families with children, they can opt in..anyone else who wants to opt out can do so and their Net will be UNFILTERED…no “clean feed” at all.

If you opt out you dont get a “second tier”…there is no FILTERING AT ALL.

Tony supports the rights of adults to choose as they wish, and is against the mandatory filtering entirely.... See More

In short, if you want it you can have it, if not, you get left alone.

Works for me.

As the campaign against Labor’s internet censorship plan gears up, some of the tactics (and indeed the overall strategy) of those opposed to this monstrosity troubles me somewhat, as I am unsure how effective it will be. ...

(John) Peter -- I hear that the LDP has an excellent President at the moment who will be able to take the party forward effectively without me. :) I still believe that Australia needs the LDP, and I wish you all the luck getting that Senator and stealing the balance of power from the Greens!

Australian Libertarian Society This story highlights one of the points that Bjorn Lomborg has been making... more people die from the cold than from the heat. Global warming has costs. But it also has benefits, and these don't seem to get the same media coverage.
