It seems that there is a great deal of difference between human and veterinary medicine. While the controversy over the duration of antibiotic treatment in humans rages on, veterinary manuals suggest that longer courses may be needed in canines, as studies showed treatment failure in courses of 30 days.

Nicky

Nicky Just wanted to say many thanks for the ultra speedy delivery of the O'Tom Tick Twister that I ordered online on Tuesday evening - it arrived this morning!

This one is going to be a gift so the information leaflet that you included is also greatly appreciated :-)

You're very welcome Nicky - we're glad it arrived so promptly; it's in the lap of the gods right now with the postal strike action. It's a great idea to give tick removers as gifts to someone you know might need one. It helps to raise awareness and gets them well equipped!

Sorry, I've missed out a couple of words on that report and don't want to delete as Angel's comment will be lost. It should have said, "Natural England have ruled out chemical poisons and remain confident that it is a natural occurring phenomena, such as caused by ticks or mites."

Hi Jan, as I said, it was perhaps an unfortunately choice of words. We did receive a couple of complaints and that's why we listened carefully to the programme. The problem is when one person perhaps mishears or misreads and then it become a case of Chinese whispers, as often seems to happen.

BADA-UK (Borreliosis & Associated Diseases Awareness UK) As well as our awareness-ribbon lapel pins, we now have "Ticks Can Make You Sick" wrist bands. This is a great way to introduce people to the subject of tick-borne disease. Unfortunately, they are currently only available in the UK but we hope to make them available for the Republic of Ireland very soon.

Trouble is, the ID consultant is supposed to be the expert, so many many people wouldn't even consider questioning their insistence! Since I found out what was actually wrong with me I have told a couple of the 'specialists' what they missed (gently/nicely of course) and I can tell they don't believe me! The only one to trust the diagnosis was our ... Read MoreGP but we had to tell him what to do and it was so long after the initial illness that even he was rather bewildered by it all.

All the best in your recovery Angel, I'll watch out for your blog.
