BIG EARS ARTIST SPOTLIGHTS:
FENNESZ:
Solo, Friday February 6 • 8:00 • Bijou
With David Daniell and Tony Buck, Saturday February 7 • 6:30, • The Square Room.
Festival Finale: Featuring a collaboration between Fennesz/Linkous/Minor (fest members of Sparklehorse). The evening begins with Larkin Grimm followd by a solo performance by Michael Gira (Swans/Angelsof Light.)
Fennesz will be working hard during Big Ears. On Friday his solo performance will feature the Vienna based virtuoso’s soundscapes created with guitar and laptop.
Saturday will feature the first ever collaboration between Fennesz, David Daniell from San Agustin on guitars, and Tony Buck of The Necks on the drums. This collaboration is not to be missed.
Finally, on Sunday at the Festival Finale, Fennesz will come together for the first time on US soil with Mark Linkous and Scott Minor of Sparklehorse.

BIG EARS FESTIVAL
MOVIES AT THE TENNESSEE THEATRE:
Powaqqatsi: Life in transformation (99 minutes) and Naqoyqatsi: Life as war (89 minutes) at the Tennessee Theatre.
Friday, 2/6/09, 8PM, Saturday, 2/7/09, 2PM and 8PM.
Admission: Free. Donations accepted.
The films will be shown together as a double feature.

BIG EARS FESTIVAL
BIG EARS SCREEN PRINT JAM
Friday February 6th at the Knoxville Museum of Art
On Friday February 6th a “Screen Print Jam” will be held at the Knoxville Museum of Art in conjunction with the Kick-off for the Big Ears Festival. Participating artists will be Ben Fox-McCord, Daniel Maw, Erin Mullenex, Katie Ries, Veronica Siehl and Ericka Walker, all printmaking students at the University of Tennessee. They will be joined by Justin Helton, concert poster artist and graphic designer for AC Entertainment.
The Screen Print Jam will involve multiple combinations of layered images, all related to the theme “Big Ears.” Each print will be a unique combination of images and colors. The resulting prints will be displayed during the event. Ink for this project is provided by the UTK Print Workshop. Paper has been donated by French Paper Company.

Hardware Hacking Workshop w/ Nicolas Collins - 2:30 Saturday, Feb 7 on the 5th floor of the Woodruff Building.
This guy wrote the book (literally) on handmade electronic music - The Art of Hardware Hacking. Hit the Big Ears website and reserve a slot for the workshop. There are a limited number of slots, so go to the site to check out what you need to bring to participate.
