Sorry you've been struggling, Clarence. I am also a Firefox user, and I've had more than the usual number of frustrations with it lately on Blogger. I tend to update the blog and leave comments in Safari these days--I am really not sure what the issue is, or if it is specific to mac users like us, or what...?

Bad Quaker Bible Blog Apologies for the late notice! (It's been a tough week.) Gil Skidmore of Britain Yearly Meeting writes of her lifelong spiritual journey this week: "At home, among my collection of sumptuously illustrated Ladybird books,
there were Bible stories too and the one that I remember best told the
story of Samuel - The Child ...of the Temple - who heard the voice of God
but did not recognise that it was calling him."

Cat The original Facebook group for those of us who are "practicing" Quakers. (And some of us need a lot of practice!)

A group for folks who are just not very good at being Quaker -- who aren't always peaceable, humble, kind, loving, truthful, ... and know it. It's a place to poke fun at ourselves (as bad Friends) ...

Bad Quaker Bible Blog Our newest post is up! Mike Shell reflects on Jeremiah 33, "Within Them I Shall Plant my Law," and the concept of a God who is timeless" "when those days have come... within them I shall plant
my Law, writing it on their hearts. Then I shall be their God and they
will be my people."

This passage is one of my favorites of the OT!!! It is significant because it shows that our relationship with authority is evolving...In the Christian tradition the original authority was vested in the Church and tradition, over time the Reformation happened and authority was scene to be not in the church but in the Bible (this has caused ... See Moresignificant problems with people creating a false idol out of scriptures). In more recent times people are finally recognizing that the true authority resides in our hearts! (though we of the west are often dominated by our minds...) It is our hearts then that we should follow when the questions of our time come up. God has written in our bodies (this could be dna what social scientest call 'nature') all the authority that we need to have a happy and productive life... when large groups of people follow thier hearts then we will see significant changes in the world around us...

I find that the prophets' words often pack a lot of punch for me. This is one of my favorite passages, too. (Thanks to Eden, who first suggested I approach the prophets early in my Bible-reading.)

This is a great idea, and thanks to Brent (I would suppose) for establishing this joint and double thanks to Cat for pointing me in the right direction. I'd be eager to contribute at any time, should there be a need. And I promise I won't expect anyone else to read Greek or Greco-Latin (which no one can speak anyway).

Please add your comments at the blog! So far, the quality of the discussions there has been excellent. I'm hoping it will develop into a real (virtual?) community over time.

would invite you to share how it reads in the Greek...I took one class in college years ago where we looked at the Greek and I found it so interesting but not interesting enough to learn to read Greek myself. :) But having a Greek scholar share insight would be very interesting.
