Saw the film at Sidewalk in Birmingham... AMAZING. I loved every minute of it! I laughed and screamed at the same time!

Hey guys... is Baghead still showing anywhere in Los Angeles? Just brought my sister, Alita to your IMDB pages and your interview at GordonandtheWhale.com. She's still living in New Orleans. I would love to patronize. Congrats on the great reviews!

SHORT TAKES Review (New York Daily News)

BAGHEAD

3 stars

Comic thriller about friends threatened by a lunatic. At the Empire 25, Landmark Sunshine (1:24). R: Language, nudity.

Anybody who missed 2006's excellent indie "The Puffy Chair" has another chance to discover the off-kilter world of the Duplass brothers.

Wobbling between comedy and horror, "Baghead" is the kind of movie currently defined as mumblecore: deceptively low-key, heavier on conversation than action. The brothers' no-frills plot sends two couples away for a romantic weekend. The guys (Ross Partridge, Steve Zissis) want to be filmmakers, the women (Greta Gerwig, Elise Muller) are aspiring actresses. They drunkenly dream up a movie idea about a serial killer, and somehow it starts coming true.

While the acting is uneven and the focus wavers, the Duplasses take several well-aimed potshots at their bloated industry. Early on, someone declares that you don't need a Hollywood budget to make a memorable movie. Here's the proof. - Elizabeth Weitzman
Horror, Comedy, RomCom all in one
by Michelle at 8:51pm on July 26th, 2008
After being bombarded with CGI and FX all summer, it was wonderful to just sit and enjoy this little film. The frights and scares were really the jump in your seat kind. The interaction between the foursome showed great chemistry and I'm sure a lot of the lines were ad libbed. I'm glad the ending between Chad and Michelle wasn't formulaic. The only thing I didn't like was that the shakiness and the bluriness got to me after a while
Pitch perfect tragi-comedy

Hollywood would have you believe it takes a hundred million dollars to make a piece of art. Baghead proves that statement is a piece of crap. ;-) A cinematical delight of character-driven tragedy, comedy and suspense.
Baghead @ the Nantucket Film Festival 13

I saw this film and I did not know anything about it, until someone compared it to The Strangers, and I was watching it and by the end I was thinking, what the fuck? Then I realized, that this movie was one of the most interesting, shocking and intimate type of movie that we have seen in a long time.

While it borders in similarity and does pay homage to The Blair Witch Project, it was so different, and so unique, and there was just so many one liners and jokes, but it was also just perfect in the balance of the whole thing.

By the end of the movie, you feel like putting a bag on your head and running around. It WILL shock the nation and the college scene just as much a the 1990s found the Wes Craven Scream series. This movie is going to take off and make people scream, laugh, "aww" and cry.

I loved it.

See it.

Shut up - and see this movie.

I had just seen THE PUFFY CHAIR and the short films the morning of BAGHEAD's SXSW screening. So I was all geared up and really looking forward to it. I really enjoyed the movie, especially seeing familiar faces in the cast. Terrific ensemble!
Fun, entertaining...and a little scary, too.

This movie is really great! It's really scary in places (yes, I actually screamed), but it is, really funny too. But most of all, like their other films, this movie is very astute in capturing the quirks of human nature creating a compelling reason to care. You'll feel somewhat voyeuristic at times as you gain insight into these 4 characters and their world, making this movie more intimate than most. Humorous opening scene that will make film-festival goers laugh. Also the plot twists keep you really engaged. I highly recommend it.
A movie you can't stop talking about?
