father got accepted for clevland clinic after all .. im soo happy for
both of them.. things are looking up ..
Michelle Pickering Has anyone heard that OHIP is now denying people to the states for surgery? A friend is waiting to send papers in and heard from another site that OHIP came out with a new ruling in Nov. that they are not sending people down there and have a whole new set of requirements before approval ( which really means staying in Canada for surgery)? Anyone heard of this?

Helo everyone my surgery went well on Tuesday with Dr Schram!! i just got back from Detroit tonight, feeling really sore & tired from the long drive home!!! Other then that everything went great!! Just bc our doctor is very incompetent!.. he was supposed to send out
the forms months ago before we went on holiday in Aug.. he just sent
them a few weeks ago!!!... to my surprise they changed their policy.
they are denying ppl over 60!!! this just passed in Sept ... if our doc
sent out the forms when he was supposed to m...y father would have got the
approval for clevland clinic ...
im very upset.. my dad said its ok hes old .. that my sister and i are
young and we have alot more life to live .. which is true but .. in my
eyes so does my dad ... :( hes giving up... im so upset any
encouragment or advice out there... how am i supposed to be happy about

Mychele Maryanne Abraham hey Everyone.. I want to say that I have some good news and bad news. My sister was approved for the Clevland clinic for surgery.. which is amazing... bc she got denied for barix clinic in michigan.. but my father got denied :( just bc of his age hes over 60 ....
Sheri I would like to know if anyone knows of anyone that has had the surgery and is over the age of 60. My dad is 64 years old and got a letter from OHIP stating that since his age they want him to go somewhere in Ontario....and he has lots of health problems and he cannot wait 2 years or more to get it done...please some advice

I hope this finds everyone doing well on their journey. I had my 2 week check up today. I am down 23 pounds since post op. I'm on soft foods as of yesterday. It is going well with that.
Dr. Nunn said I am doing well and healing well and the back ache that I have should subside in time, to keep in mind that ...the body had been thur some trauma and as I change so will the body and back aches are something I will have. In 4 weeks when I go back if I still have them he will follow up more with them. If it becomes intolerable to call sooner. I think I can control the pain with Tylenol for now. Other then that, I feel good, am keeping my food down and looking forward to moving forward with this journey. I get to resume work Monday if I wanted, I asked to go back on Dec 1st. I want to see how this stage of soft foods go for me,

hello there i had my surgery April 3, 2006, I was 455lbs and now I am at 220lbs and feel great, I ahve not had any issues or problems since the surgery. I was wearing a size 64 paints and now a size 38.
I look good and feel great, it is nice to run into people from my past who dont know who i am now and then realize wh...o i am and than some apoligize for what the did then and i tell them that was the past and this is the future.

Hello everyone! I had my gastric bypass on 3/9/06 in MI with Dr. Pop and I can honestly say it is the best thing that has ever happened to me! I just found this FB page and I couldn't be happier! I'm almost down to my goal weight (yes I know it's going on 4 years, but school gets in the way of some things). Pre-op I we...ighed in at 255 now I'm dow to about 150 give or take a few pounds. I've gained a lot of muscle from working out so unfortunately that keeps some of my weight up.
