John S. Roche I grew up going to the Catlow in the 60's. My brothers & I would always sit in the 2nd row seats 1, 2 & 3, stage left...

Monica Mills Homer I used to go here in the 60's! We would sit in the front row and throw raisinettes at the screen! And make funny noises blowing into the empty Raisinettes box! I remember seeing Zotz there, and Flubber, and David and Lisa, and hanging out with all my friends from Hough St. School! The movies cost 35 cents then!

Peter Reid I am so glad to know this place is still in existence. I made out in the back row many times...BHS class of '81 BAck in the day (1930s), my mother used to go here for all the great films- and the air-conditioning.

Catlow Theater Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!!!

Mary Joan Greffin oh...and i used to make out with my boyfriend at the time who was an usher....and we would make out behind the screen...its really creepy back there!

Mary Joan Greffin we used to trade popcorn for baskin robbins with the girls that worked there.

Mary Joan Greffin I worked at the catlow in high school in the 70's. i was the candy girl. my brother and both my sisters worked there also. when i started working there i was making $1.65/hour and the first movie i remeber working was the godfather.

I think the podcast link I displayed was broken. Here is the correct link.

Elaine I remember the little window up front where you would buy your ticket and the small concession stand nearby. One other memory I have is that there was a table right before you went into the theater and they had a silver tray with little pamphlets. The pamphlets showed movies that were "coming soon". I also knew a ma...n from Barrington who played the organ in the theater long before my time! I think it used to be a vaudeville type venue back then.

Barb Pernacciaro Grew up in Barrington in the 50s. The Catlow was an institution - Saturday matinees, Mr. Catlow patrolling the aisles (no horsing around, no feet up on the seat in front of you, no talking during the show). I'll be interested in the podcast. I was told that there used to be vaudeville shows there in the 30s - true?

I am currently working on a podcast which will be broadcasted in early December. The 'We The Podcast' show will host the Catlow Theatre, and take you down memory lane and also talk about the history of this monumental theatre. You can check out some of my podcast at the link below. I am excited to bring you this relaxe...d and a MAGICAL podcast interview of the Catlow.

Mary Ryan Sigmond I miss the Catlow and Boloney's. I must have seen "The Sting" there about five times at the ridiculous price of $1.25

Glenn Lipsker What a great venue it was growing up ! Who could forget 'The Incredible Mr. Limpett' with Don Knotts, and, of course, the 'Flubbber' movies with Fred MacMurray - don't forget the Good N Plenties !

Jeff Retzlaff Yep. Saturday afternoon matinees for 35 cents!
