Barry was elected to NSW Parliament in 1995 and represents the Ku-ring-gai electorate. After holding key posts such as Shadow Treasurer and Shadow Transport Minister, he was elected unopposed by his Liberal colleagues as NSW Liberal Leader in 2007.

Andrew Beveridge I recently heard about more injustices committed against NSW by the Department of Planning and Kristina Keneally and it just angers me the government can be allowed to do this to the people of NSW, from Ku-ring-gai to Port Macquarie we have no say as to what is being built and why. We have the overwhelming support of the Community, business, govt depts, The NSW Teachers Federation, NSW P&C Association, Edu...cation Dept etc etc etc - Council has wasted 10 years of all our time and it's time to let the Community back in and get on with sharing this invaluable pioneering heritage and history with the rest of Australia and the world . . . Please help us - we have a group on Facebook, 4,000 have signed our Petition and hundreds are wanting to volunteer their time, expertise, equipment etc.
