Beaver Creek Wetlands Association Sundays, October 4th - November 22th 2pm-5pm

Come join the volunteers of the Fairborn Marsh. Main objectives this fall at Fairborn Marsh will be to deal with honeysuckle, plant some trees and gather some seeds.

Honeysuckle control is now ready to take care of the seedlings. We will begin spraying them as soon as the surr...ounding plants are dormant. When we finish the spraying we will start planting trees that we put in our nursery last spring. During all of this time we will watch the weather and gather seeds that mature in our prairie and perhaps plant a few as well. We have some sites at the Koogler reserve that need planting too.

We meet at north end - enter via Fawn Ridge off Trebein north of New Germany Trebein - meet at end of Deercreek Dr

Expert on-site guidance will be provided. Fairborn Marsh is located on New Germany-Trebein Road, just northeast of the traffic light at New Germany-Trebein Road and Beaver Valley Road. Parking and access through the Fawn Ridge development off Trebein Rd at the end of Deercreek Dr.

Beaver Creek Wetlands Association Come join the volunteers of the Koogler Reserve. We are cutting and spraying honeysuckle, building/improving trails and generally improving the Koogler Reserve for trail access for the public. Volunteers should meet at the Koogler Reserve parking lot on Beaver Valley Road. They should bring saws, loppers and chainsaws ...for cutting and they should wear work gloves and high boots as the area can be very wet.. Light rain or mist should not prevent work but heavy rain, wind or snow is a no-go.

Expert on-site guidance will be provided. Koogler Reserve is located on the corner of New Germany-Trebein Road and Beaver Valley Road. The parking lot is located just south of the traffic light at New Germany-Trebein Road and Beaver Valley Road. Please contact Rob Evans webmaster@beavercreekwetlands.org to let us know we can expect you, to obtain directions to the work site or if there are any questions or concerns.

Beaver Creek Wetlands Association Midwest Native Plant Society Conference 2009
July 24, 25 & 26

Join the Midwest Native Plant Society to learn about the important role that native plants have in supporting our natural environment by attending the first Midwest Native Plant Conference on July 24-26, 2009 at the Hope Hotel in Dayton, Ohio.

Our Mission is... to help you connect with nature by learning how to re-establish native habitats and to protect wildlife corridors. The focus will be on native prairies and wetlands with emphasis on the importance of native plant communities and how these elements can be included in any landscape.

You will learn from subject matter experts about native landscaping, wildlife, wetlands, and prairies through lectures and workshops. We will have three nationally recognized keynote speakers each day of the conference. We have scheduled ample time for networking and visiting with our many vendors who will offer native plants, books, art and other items that will help you in understanding and enjoying the benefits of going native.
