Cheeky Monkey Theater

Opening next week, May 22nd, 23rd and 24th at 7:30pm at the Canadian International School of Beijing, the latest Cheeky Monkey Production, Kung Pao Shakespeare is going to be the biggest comedic event of the season. An original comedy by Elyse Ribbons, this show follows in the footsteps of I Heart Beijing by lampooning... Beijing stereotypes and giving us all a chance to laugh at ourselves.

Kung Pao Shakespeare is a sendup of a Beijing theater company thats trying to do Taming of the Shrew with an international cast. Cross-cultural misunderstandings coupled with trans-continental romantic blunders create a laugh riot on stage.

This April, Cheeky Monkey is producing the second run of the Mandarin play "Green Eyes on Chinese" at the Peng Hao Theater, near Nanluogu Xiang. An ode to putonghua, the show is about a young foreign student preparing (last minute) for a big Chinese exam, and as she drinks more instant coffee, the story takes a hyper-c...affeinated twist. A multi-media project with stand-up comedy, modern dance and music, "Green Eyes" is unlike anything else on stage in Beijing.

内容介绍：

柳素英扮演的角色是一个在痛苦的中文考试就要到来的前夜几乎崩溃了的留学生。她复习过程中对中文的理解和想象引发了一系列笑话，观众很容易参与到她的思考中来。音乐和舞台背景随情节的变化而不断改变，舞蹈演员用或优美或滑稽的舞姿表现舞台上正在发展的剧情和气氛。最后故事的主人公和舞者相遇、对话、起舞，让大家看到主人公"痛并快乐着"的汉语学习状态。

此剧2008年11月在愚公移山首演受到了很大关注。首演之后剧组人员在原剧的基础上进行了再创作，因此即将在蓬蒿剧场上演的《绿眼睛识黑汉字》将更精彩。
