It seems bell hooks left the east coast ( actually the northeast coast ) scene because it was phony, superficial, fake. Read what she says about teaching at Yale. More people need to get past the Madison Ave. and Hollywood hype that make the east coast and west coast out to be such a big deal. Peace.
