Mowry Stringed Instruments Well, the new shop is up and running at our new depression-era money pit ;). The shop is in an old garage that I've converted to be air tight, energy efficient, and comfortable. I was able to use lots of salvaged materials, including argon-filled skylights and windows, and the "Grand Entryway". I even have a wood floo...r now, which is much easier on the lower back than my old concrete slab. It's all a major improvement. The house itself is coming along too! Here are a few quick photos of the shop.

Jordan Rogers This is one of the best sounding mandolins I've ever heard. I have started saving my money up, so I think in a couple of years I'll have enough to buy my dream Mowry Mandolin.

Mowry Stringed Instruments Thanks Joshua! Lately I've been varnishing. Here's an F5 that needs one more sanding, French polishing, and then a little more curing time before final assembly.

Mowry Stringed Instruments The past few weeks I've been working on binding mandolin bodies, fretboards, and headstock overlays. Three of the instruments have tortoise plastic binding, and one (the F5) has the more traditional ivoroid.

Mowry Stringed Instruments I'm wading deep in the next batch of instruments. This one has an A-model mandola, an F5 with a one-piece sugar maple back, an A5 with engelmann and bigleaf (my favorite combination), and a birdseye two-point with lots of custom details. I just closed up the bodies on all of them.
