Benjamin Todd Jealous

Benjamin Todd Jealous This week I, and the rest of the NAACP, am mourning the loss of civil rights giant Percy Sutton. He will be missed, and his impact will long be remembered.

As news of Percy E. Sutton’s death spread, the sadness and fond recollections spanned generations and city blocks.

I am so sorry for my spelling errors...I need help here in Iowa and it seems the only way to obtain justice is to make a sincere plea to the NAACP..I am a african american, honoably discharged, from the United States Army, mother of three sons and grandmother of six. I was incarcerated at a small jail in Nevada, Iowa where they dosed me with ... See Morehaldol,( a medication for schizophrenia. I was a victim of sexual abuse by a detention officer, (voyuerism), and I was locked down for over 70 hours with no food...only taken out for the medical staff to try and convince me I was siffering from schizophreneia...I complained to the appropriate state agency; the State of Iowa Ombudsman...I was told never to contact his office with this complaint again...I know that my case was not investigated...I know that some one out there cares about what happens to people no matter their color...after having been dosed with haldol...the side affects were excruciatingly painful..I was denied critical care for four more days...the jail administrator ordered the (HIT) on me for complaining about the nasty conditions in the shower(feses) and the fact that I was being housed with two woman who were positive with active turberculosis....I have done all I can do...I never brought up that fact that I am an african american and that I have my suspisions that my complaints were ignored because of the basic fact...If there is nothing else I can do...Let me know...If there is anything you can do to help me please let me know...I have all the documentation that, if evaluated on the facts would reveal the malious behavior of the jail admonistrator and several of his staff...I am not the only one that the jail administrator dosed with haldol...I am the only one willing to stop this man before he kills someone...when they gave me the haldol my blood pressure was recorded at 192/118..No medical doctor who have prescribribed that drug without getting my blood pressure under control...I have so much more to say...My home phone number is 515-292-3185...Please have someone contact me...Thank You and God Bless, Willa Klampe-Carrillo

Registration with the Census is vital to the proprer allocation of our jobs, resources and political power...Get counted in 2010!

Dear Mr. President Human Rights has once again has been struck down, As you know in Rockford Il, the rights of Mark and the taking of his life by the Rockford police has been deemed justifyed by a grand jury as well as the State Police investigation, as the Second Vice Chair of the Freeport Chapter of the NAACP I expected the out come of this ... See Moreinvestigation to be like all of the others that have come from grand jury's out of Stephenson and Winnebago County, Justice has never been served for the victims or there familys. We in Freeport are fighting these battles and have been for 20 plus years. I pray every day that change will come and that Justice will be served and that our work will not be in vain. I appreciate you taking the time to come to Rockford to help in this battle for what is right. May God continue to Bless you and your Family. The Struggle continues but the Light still Shines Bright.

Benjamin Todd Jealous Climate change has a direct and profound impact on communities across the United States, and studies show that people of color are particularly at risk. NAACP Climate Justice Initiative Director Jacqueline Patterson will join thousands in Copenhagen, Denmark for the United Nation’s Climate Change Conference. Here's the NAACP's blog from Copenhagen.

I just gave my first Green Jobs workshop to my local branch of the NAACP. The workshop was held in a beautiful little church in the farm country of southern Ohio. We are on the border with West Virginia and Kentucky, the gateway to Appalachia.

I hope this passes also I am experiencing racial discrimination at my job that is visible enough for the blind to see. I live in upstate New York and work in a hospital where there is no defense for the African Americans working there. If something is missing they blame the African Americans if an error occurs they blame the African Americans. We sure do need help.

Is there anyone that can point me to someone that can help, my son (17) went to court last week his public defender did not defend him at all!!! My son is half black and we live in a community that is less than 6% black, he was in a car with two white girls and they had marijuana in the car, of course blamed it on him and he got charged with drug ... See Morepossession and drug paraphenalia. The marijuana was found in the car not on my son the supposed paraphenalia was a wrapped cigar that was found in the drivers purse, she's 18. Neither of the girls were charged and the prosecutor said he has no intention of charging them either. I really need to find out what I can do to challenge these charges as the magistrate believed the other girl in the car even though her statement completely changed from the one she gave police and his atty did not even challenge that at all! I spoke to the Director at the Public defender's office and he is backing his atty of course. I would also like to find info on filing a racial discrimination suit against the police dept and prosecutors office, even if nothing comes of it I still want to raise the awareness of their discrimination.

Benjamin Todd Jealous The NAACP and other civil and human rights organizations are encouraging President Obama to create more jobs as a part of his stimulus package. The NAACP wants to know your thoughts on the implementation and effectiveness of the stimulus package at addressing America’s economic needs.

In some states the stimulus package will work and in some NOT. Where I live, it seems that the package is producing. If states do what they are required to do with the funds things will kinda be ok (I guess). If we need to ask The Pesident to direct the money to job growth, then I'm all for it..I'll sign the petition.

The stimulus package needs more "green" job incentives. This will help heal our world while creating new green industries.

What I want to know is why can't Black people can not be service providers for Black Youth! All across America Blacks are being denied the opportunity create support and to help black youth the change the direction of their life just tell me why? Every other nationality can work with their youth but Black People have to justify why and what they have to offer youth. And are usually only people that allow to create support for Black youth are White.

That's great for new jobs, but some kind of education reform needs to be implimented. Why in the year 2009, there is still no African American history classes taught in my school system? My kids are only reminded or taught about there important black leaders of the 20th century in February!! and when they are taught it, it is by a caucasian teacher. Things are changing but we are still stuck in a rut!!
