Beth Robinson's Strange Dolls

I am an artist living in New England and I make Strange Dolls.

Each doll is entirely hand made using polymer clays, vintage fabrics, acrylic paint, and sometimes real human hair or teeth. Each piece is one of a kind.

Not all dolls are for children - as evidenced by the incredibly bizarre and amazing art dolls, puppets and sculpture of these 15 artists.

Milk and cookies for you thirsty blood suckersSmall opening tonight. Icky weather but somehow strangely fitting. It was, in fact, a dark and stormy night. And it was, in fact, a gigantic old spooky building that the Dark Arts show took place in...

That's great! The reason I made buttons was because I once worked in a cubicle farm, there were a few artists I liked who's buttons I purchased and they stuck to the wall. It was a relief from the gray walls. Made it seem less like a prison.

I have to say - the dolls displayed in a large glass box are way easier to show than on a gallery wall!

I realized that I can make these really interesting characters out of wooden dowels, and paper with alot of fabric and making tape!!! They come out cute and interesting each and every time!!! Take a look and tell me what you think. I also have a website for artists (and doll artists) who make figures out of recycled materials....... www.projectfive.zoomshare.com.

I was bored one day when I started making stick people out of some wooden dowels I bought for another project. I simply started to create these figures with no real idea in mind, and they came out wonderful!!!!! I love the pink one I made. On It's Stomach it says: " Help Cure Cancer." and it has a ribbon on its stomach with flowers coming out of its knees and stomach. I thought of this idea as I went along with it. I also am in the middle of doing a halloween doll.....two of them.......you can tell that they are in the early stages but hey.....they are coming along nicely.....I'm so happy!!! Whooo Hooo!!!
