Members of Genesis United Methodist Church, in collaboration with Bethany Christian Services and Congressman Vern Ehlers helped the family get refugee status for their mother, allowing them to reunite on American soil. Bethany has begun a new community and faith-based program in Ethiopia to strengthen families by empowering parents to care for their children and ensure that children are fed and attend school. Along with Bethany's existing community-based projects, this project will have served more than 1,600 children in 2009 by allo...wing them to remain with their biological parents rather than be sent to an orphanage.
