Can you imagine how crazy E.TN will go if we manage to get out of the swamp with a "W"?

Bill Landry Gatlinburg Presents ‘Vintage Views’ Film Debut
Classic film clips gleaned from family home movie collections are the centerpiece of “Vintage Views of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park: 1920 – 1970,” a nostalgic film produced by the Tennessee Archive of Moving Image and Sound (TAMIS) which debuts in Gatlinburg on S...aturday, Sept. 12.
A special world premiere screening of the 80-minute film will be presented at 7 p.m. in the Whaley Room at the historic Riverside Motor Lodge in Gatlinburg. A wine and cheese reception and live bluegrass music precede this first public screening starting at 5 p.m. in the Skyview Room.
Local Smoky Mountain history writers and experts will be on hand during the reception for a “Meet the Author” session in the Yellow Rock Hall of the Riverside, the 80-room hotel built in 1925 by Dick and Bruce Whaley on the downtown Parkway.
The “Vintage Views” film is a carefully edited montage of mostly 16-millimeter film clips gathered from the private family home movies of residents of the Smokies and Gatlinburg area. Those clip collections have been donated to TAMIS to be preserved for future generations, with Bradley Reeves and Louisa Trott producing the homage to the most-visited national park in the United States.
The film celebrates the evolution of the Smokies from the pre-national park years through the first 40 years of its existence, presenting the physical changes of the Smokies and society as well as the increase in popularity of outdoor recreation.
Reeves and Trott will be on hand to relate their observations and experiences as they produced the film and noted historian Bill Landry of “The Heartland Series” fame will deliver a special introduction and narrative of the screening.
Steve Cotham, curator of East Tennessee Historical Society, leads the list of authors lined up for the book signing reception which also includes Greg Johnson, John North and other local authors.
During the premiere, the City of Gatlinburg and Land O’ Lakes Half & Half will present a check to Friends of the Smokies resulting from a special promotion held during Gatlinburg’s 4th of July Midnight Parade.
Sponsors of the premiere screening include the City of Gatlinburg, TAMIS, Gatlinburg Garden Club, Food City, Knoxville Coca Cola, Smoky Mountain Winery, Davis Printing, Rocky Top Village Inn and the Riverside Hotel.
TAMIS is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to collecting, preserving and providing access to the moving image and recorded sound heritage of our region.
Call the Special Events Office at 436-0500 to reserve your seat. Tickets are $10 at the door, with reservations required. Seating is limited.

I saw this article. I think "big-city, bean-counting bonehead" pretty much sums it up, at least it sums up what can be said in public.

Boneheads, indeed! When the TV stations, and newspapers, and locally-based corporations get bought up by outsiders (bigger bean-counters from far away, with no real local connections) -- it sends us who are right here down the tubes, and faraway boneheads could care!
