Many thanks go out to those of you who have recently learned of Kid One through the CNN Heroes story featuring our founder, Russell Jackson. Your words of encouragement are greatly appreciated and we hope that you remain involved with the work that we are doing to improve the lives of children and expectant mothers in need. We also hope that the Kid One story inspires each of you to make a difference in your respective communities through volunteer work, financial contributions, and advocacy work on behalf of any number of worthwhile organizations that exist to meet the needs of the less fortunate. Kid One Transport System, Inc.
Dear Kid One Supporters,
I'd like to share the story of Alejandro Lopez, age 6. Alejandro and his family live in Cullman County. His mother suffers from blindness in her right eye, as well as diabetes. His father must use the family's lone vehicle to make it to work at the local poultry processing plant.
Last year, Alejandro was diagnosed with a severe kidney ailment. He required frequent trips to Children's Hospital in Birmingham for treatment; Kid One was his only lifeline. Unfortunately, Alejandro's kidneys began to fail during treatment and he was placed on a transplant waiting list. During the weeks preceeding the transplant, Kid One continued to transport Alejandro and his mother to Children's Hospital for the necessary treatment in preparation for the surgery.
Today, six months after his transplant, Alejandro is on the road to full recovery. His story is one of triumph and survival and there are many more just like it.

Welcome to Kid One Transport's new Facebook page. We hope that this page will serve as a creative and informative outlet not only for our organization, but also our supporters and other interested parties.
Kid One Transport System, Inc. is a 501 (c) (3) grassroots nonprofit organization based in Birmingham, Alabama. We provide transportation assistance to children and expectant mothers who lack safe, reliable means of travel to health care services. We were founded in 1997 by Russell Jackson, a former Hoover, Alabama firefighter who witnessed firsthand the devastating effects that a lack of transportation can have on the lives of children and families in need.
