Suppose, therefore, we believe that every means of prospering, lies solely in God’s blessing and that without it every misery and calamity await us. Then our duty is not to aspire with excessive greed to riches, honours, relying on our own skill or diligence, or mens’ favour, or fortu...

When we read, God speaks to us, because we read his Word. But when we pray, we speak to God… “The prayers of the saints…” are called “incense” because when they ascend to heaven God seems to smell a sweet savour like incense.Whoever fell into error, or into apo...

A Puritan at Heart When our afflictions do not drive us to God, nor cause us more humbly to hear and seek His work, but rather to stop our ears, and to run from it, and to seek unlawful means, let us then mourn secretily and heartily unto God, for the direction of God’s Spirit, for that case is dangerous. The works of Richard Greenham is what I would most like to see reprinted, in the way of puritan works. They are still available but at a ridiculous cost.
He had a heart for and could always offer seasonable counsel for the suffering saints.

Flame is soon spent, graces that act most strongly require most influence, as beng most subject to abatement. We sooner lose our affections than anything else. Love is a grace we can ill spare; it is the spring and rise of all duties to God and man… If we would do anything in the resistance...

I don't think this is a thing particular to ministers but to each and every professor.

I will pray for a faithful ministry though. But as far as falling away, I think that is common to us all.. its something I wonder about sometimes--I mean I think circumstnatially and in the way of suffering, I have more reason for assurance than most, but I don't feel more assured because of it for some reason.
