Birth To Three "A new baby is like the beginning of all things - wonder, hope, a dream of possibilities." Eda J. Le Shan's thought applies to the anticipation of a new year, too, which is why everyone at Birth To Three wishes you a Happy New Year!

Birth To Three When a child cries at night, which parent responds? A new study (link below) says the maternal instinct gets women up but men wake up only for sounds like car alarms. What's your experience?

Yep that sounds about right. But we all have the ability to train ourselves to wake up from any sound. Mamas, let Dad take over now and again - but you might just have to wake up!

I hear the kids, but then wake up my husband and he goes in... he's the stronger "nighttime" parent, but I think he could sleep through just about anything.

Birth To Three A BT3 couple's meaningful holiday gift request to family: "We would like to ask each of you to write a letter to (4-month-old) Jayda in lieu of other gifts. We will put your letters in her baby book to share with her when she gets older...a bio of your life, a note about your thoughts on her so far, a poem, a story, ad...vice for her, whatever. It's something she'll never grow out of and will keep forever."

Birth To Three Wonderful article about adoption, written by a BT3 supporter. One of our grantwriters echoed the article's points: "Just want to say to everyone out there at Birth To Three that at 48, as parent of 4 year old Nikko, I am constantly amazed at how my little guy has enriched my life in so many ways. I say yeah to all who are willing to adopt."

Birth To Three Dads: When they parent, they help their children thrive. When they partner well with the mom, the child does even better! An expert says parents should figure out parenting together, even if they aren't a couple anymore, and accept their different ways of parenting. Click the link for the story.

Having a father help with the child-rearing is important. Having a mother back him is more important.
