Blackball

Blackball's been around since ought-three, but the members (Kev, Ron & Dave) have been stomping around the punk scene since the mid-80's, honing the art of harder-faster - if you're from Ottawa, the names Resin Scraper, Black Triangle, Moral Hazard, Goddamn, Good2Go and the Inflatable Jesus Lovedolls may mean something to you. Blackball is the next step - twisting the concept of punk until it sheds the typical trappings of the style and emerges as something different; still loud, fast and mean, but without the same stale chord progressions and time signatures. They have a 24-song CD out (available through email-order only) that was recorded live-off-the-floor and mixed in 9 hours. It may not be as polished as the average major-label schwack, but it does have the eerie quality of being in the same room as the band, if you turn it up loud enough.
