Blackhat Humane Society is a group of people dedicated to ending the problems of homeless animals on the Navajo Reservation. We foster, vaccinate, spay/neuter and socialize pets and offer them for adoption to good homes.

Lady from back east says she'll donate $300 to Blackhat if someone rescues it. The dog appears to be nursing pups, so you'll probably about break even once you get her s...payed and her and all her puppies vaccinated. (Which is better than we usually do, at least.)

Lisa Burke Dan and I took our three dogs to the dog park this afternoon. It snowed last night so all the dogs at the park were having fun romping in it. Sandy and Jack Rascal, our two Blackhats, are both happy and healthy and having fun. A dear friend, Sarah, and her two kids and dog are coming here for Thanksgiving from Missoula..., MT. It will be a full house. Four dogs should be lots of fun! (Sarah's dog, Ivy, was a rescue pup from the Flathead Indian reservation in Montana!)

Blackhat Humane Society This just in from Clarese, Rez's new mom: Just wanted to let you know that Chelly is adjusting wonderfully - except we decided to rename him Rez since it's a little more masculine. Took him on an adventure to the dogpark and ran through the woods with him til he was worn out. He just hung out with us all night and sl...ept right by the bed. No bothering the cats or chickens at all, either!

Hershey is doing great! He is now 100% Giardia free & is up to
39#. Yesterday he saw the vet again, and is now up to date on all
shots and in excellent health (our next trip back is for neutering).
Hershey is enjoying his early morning walks with me and most days gets
a longer trip around the area with me and my son. We'r...e planning a trip
up to Brian Head (elevation 9300ft) over Thanksgiving weekend. We took
Hershey up there the last weekend of October and he loved it! Now that
he is all better, I know he'll enjoy the snow even more. We'll be sure
to upload some pictures of him playing. Hershey dog is such a good
little boy. We couldn't have asked for a more loving dog, or a better
companion. We are so grateful to have him as a part of our family.

Lisa Burke I JUST MET CHELLY AT THE GROCERY STORE HERE IN SALT LAKE CITY TODAY! He was with his new owner and her boyfriend. I asked the dog's name and they said "Rez." I recognized him from his pictures and asked if he came from Blackhat and they said yes. He has been renamed and has a wonderful new life it seems. He was happy a...nd friendly as were his new owners. It's a great match and I am thrilled to have met all of them. Good work, Blackhat!
Blackhat Humane Society Chelly the Akita mix is on his way to Salt Lake City to meet a potential adoptive family! They say the only deal-breaker will be if he gets into their chickens, so pray for him to be good. Little Bea, his foster sister, is heartbroken. Maybe she will be next!
